They are not frightening dimensions, but the iPads are said to shrink in size. The Japanese Appleblog Macotakara reports on that. The blog states that both 10.5 and 12.9-inch models get a different format.
Now the 10.5-inch model has dimensions of 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1 mm. According to Macotakara, that goes to 247.5 x 178.7 x 6 mm. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is reportedly running from 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9 mm to 280 x 215 x 6.4 mm.
The shrinking would have to do with a thinner casing and a borderless screen. The iPhone X is currently the only Apple product that has a virtually borderless screen. The iPads still have an old-fashioned ‘thick’ edge. The new iPad Pros may therefore change this.
Another notable news item is that the blog claims that FaceID does not work in landscape mode on the new iPad Pro. This would be strange, because many iPad Pro owners use the device in landscape mode, for example in combination with a keyboard.
The expectation is that Apple will present new iPad Pros this fall.
